The fifth-grade students have been learning about alchemy in Mrs. Krolikowski's science class. Mr. Sayer conducted a demonstration on changing a copper penny into silver and then into gold. Trickery or not? The copper penny was coated with zinc when liquid sodium hydroxide was heated with the zinc and penny. Then when the zinc-coated penny is heated in a flame it forms a common allow known as brass. Alchemy at its finest.

Check out this link with a video of Mrs. Keller's VMS fifth graders' first major social studies research project that required extensive investigation of North America's Native American tribes circa 16th and 17th centuries. The students' diligence resulted in quality research reports and creative dioramas that authentically depicted the tribes' lives. Great work, fifth graders! https://youtu.be/VO50tsdO0jc

Tickets will be sent to a purchaser via email. For entry, a guest may either access tickets directly from their email inbox or by utilizing the Ticketmaster smartphone app. CHI Health Center Omaha staff members can scan a QR code directly from a visitor’s smart device. Guests will keep their phone(s) in their own possession at all times. MECA and the NSAA continue to collaborate on and determine needed modifications in order to receive necessary approval from local health officials for the 2021 tournament. The event plan will be submitted to the Douglas County Health Department the first week in January and the plan is for tickets to go on sale at 10 AM on January 19th. More information will become available in the new year; until then, CHI Health Center Omaha is thankful for the community’s patience and understanding while we all navigate the uncertainties of this pandemic.
