Please read the following guidelines set forth by the North Central Health Department. If you are showing any of the symptoms on this chart please go visit your health care provider. If they test you for COVID-19, you and every person in the household are required to quarantine. There are 4 points listed that explain when a child can return to school. If your child meets any one of these criteria they may return to school. Valentine Community Schools is committed to keeping our doors open and teaching students face to face. Please be honest with your symptoms and the health care provider's directions so we can do what's best for our students and community.

Ainsworth Community Schools COVID Guidelines- Cross Country Teams: Visiting teams will be responsible for monitoring and documenting temps before leaving home. If this does not occur we ask that you let us know and we will have a person available to do so when arriving at our facilities. Coaches will sign-off that they have verified temperatures of the entire travelling party when they arrive. Masks are highly encouraged by team members, coaching staff, etc. Do know that based on recommendations by the NSAA and the health departments this could change in a moment's notice. (Please have masks available if we were to change to mandatory masks for common areas such as clubhouses, restrooms, etc.) Team camps are to be set-up in a way that keeps teams separate. Please encourage your athletes to socially distance themselves from members of other teams. Conversations are okay but should happen only at extended distances (at least 6 feet away). Teams will be called near the starting line in the minutes before the start of the race. All even numbered starting boxes will have a second box, off the starting line, in which runners are to be housed and checked for proper attire. Just before the start of the race the even number teams will be called to the starting line. We have visited with the NSAA and have discussed a plan so that we can safely provide an awards ceremony. As a result there will be some modifications to the area in which they will be held. Students may come and receive his/her medal that will be stationed at socially distanced intervals. We will provide more information on this the day of the meet. Make athletes and your entire team aware that they can opt out of the awards ceremony if they would like. Fans: Fans entering the course are highly encouraged to wear a mask and to practice social distancing. This is especially important in the clubhouse area. Cones and a second painted boundary line will be used to create a further than usual barrier from the runners. This effort is being made to create an extended safety zone. Concessions will be available inside the clubhouse. Anyone purchasing something from the concession stand is asked to wear a mask. Please limit total time in the clubhouse and when possible please consume food and drink outside. Hand sanitizer will be located in the clubhouse.

To kick things off this year, Valentine’s local FBLA chapter had its organizational meeting at the trailhead on Tuesday the 18th of August. These Future Business leaders ate pizza and snacks while our officer team mapped out the activities for this upcoming school year. Thank you to everyone who helped out and who came to see what this organization is all about. We are excited to see what this group will accomplish and the new skills they will grow and develop as we move forward into this difficult time. If you are a student at VHS and want to join the team, there is still time. We are accepting new members for one more week...September 4th is our registration goal! Check out the posters all around the high school for more details. #NE1kFBLA @NebraskaFBLA
