Valentine Elementary had the incredible privilege to host our artist in residence, Steven Tamayo, last month. Steven gave incredible lessons to our students, kindergarten through 4th grade, but he spent extra time with our 4th grade classes, which is the intention with the artist in residence program. Steven's time at Valentine Elementary included art and earring making, lectures on the history, symbolism and meaning behind the Native customs and traditions, and a special time learning games. We can't wait until we can welcome Steven Tamayo back to Valentine Elementary! Thanks to the Valentine Area Arts Council for making this one-of-a-kind opportunity happen!
