Badbyo the Bone Badger for the week of Sept. 9!

Great day in Art 1. A student graciously volunteered to bring horses for the class to draw and observe. Jared lined up a day and with the cooperation of his family the horses arrived just on time for their debut as models for sketching. His horse, Sonny was gentle and “well behaved” when he came to school, no need to call the principal.

VMS Student Council has selected the following dress up days for Homecoming week starting on Monday, September 30. Join in the fun and let’s go Badgers!

Middle School runners will run first when the compete in Gordon on Sept 26. MS 5:00 (Central Time) with HS girls and HS boys to follow.

Badger Homecoming October 4th!

VMS did a community service fun day project at the Elementary school with an afternoon full of games and team building. Thank you to PTA for donating the water and popsicles and all who helped with it!

REMINDER TO STUDENTS TAKING DUAL CREDIT. The deadline for MPCC paperwork is Thursday, Sept. 19. Mrs. Kilmer has reminding you of this. The VCS Foundation is paying for 100% of all students dual-credit courses. DO NOT miss this opportunity for FREE COLLEGE CREDIT!!

VES Badgers are hard at work again this year in meeting our three school-wide expectations, be safe, be responsible, and be respectful. We will be holding a monthly assembly honoring those who have earned a badger paw or positive office referral and also to introduce the next month's focus. One name will be drawn for a special surprise. We held September's assembly on September 3rd, and pictured are all of our students who had earned a badger paw prior to that day. The name drawn was 3rd grader Alex Monroe, and on September 6, she got to have a special lunch with some of the NRSA rodeo queens who were in town. Students will also sign their name to our autograph wall in the front lobby (pictured is Javarius Reed, 5th grader, who earned two badger paws in one day). If you see a badger paw or positive office referral come home, celebrate! Good work, Badgers!

Wonder what happens when you put your receipts in the box at our grocery stores marked Valentine Community Schools? Well, it goes directly to funding new things for our schools and students. Pictured here are some of the things we were able to purchase for VES, a new TV and Apple TV to use as a message board in our lobby, a new color printer, and new equipment for our students at recess! Thanks to this wonderful community for your contributions. Make sure to participate again this year by putting your receipts in those boxes!

3rd grade students tested their hypotheses; what happens when Mentos are put into Diet Coke?

4th graders developed flying models based on the structure and function of flying objects and animals!

Chadron state tour with our Juniors and Seniors.

VHS Juniors and Seniors went to Chadron State College Tuesday, September 10 for a college fair and tour of the campus. As always out students represented VHS and the Valentine community well.

Valentine Middle School’s theme for the month.

National Read a Book Day, held annually on September 6, was celebrated by VES Fifth Graders who enjoyed an extended novel-reading time, which then proved to be the perfect springboard for journal response writing.

Bad to the Bone Badger for week of September 9, Allison Hitchcock!

Counselors will be available in the VHS choir room (use the south entrance) this evening from 4:00 to 7:00, or as needed, for all students.
