We have had a few inquiries about fans attending the JV Wrestling tonight in O'Neill. The event is being held in their practice room and has very limited seating therefore O'Neill has decided they are still not going to allow fans. We are waiting on word from the NSAA on guidelines for increasing capacity to events. Once we receive the guidelines we will go through them and put a plan in place for increasing attendance at home events. We are still having the parent meeting tonight for wrestling at 6:00 pm in the commons area.

Wrestling Fans: We have the Valentine Dual Invite coming up next weekend, 12 pm start. We are not going to allow fans due to the size of the event (20 teams) and the 25% attendance restriction policy for our gyms (250 HS, 150 MS). By the time we have all of the kids, helpers, managers and coaches we are going to be at the limits. However, we do need lots of help and that can be your ticket in to watch. We will be operating out of both the MS an HS gym so we will need to have help to staff both gyms. We understand that everyone will want to watch Valentine but unfortunately that isn’t possible. We traditionally run one of the best tournaments in the state because of our volunteers. In a year where tournaments are being forced to shrink because of the restrictions we actually grew because of the format we have come up with and our hope is to keep these teams coming in future years as it is great for our community. We will give parents top priority for helping. If you would like to help please attend an informational meeting on Monday December 15th at 6 pm in the HS commons. Mask will be required to attend this meeting and also to be worn while you help at the invite. If you can’t attend and want to help please email Mr. Brown at gbrown@vcsbadger.net before the 15th. Go Badgers!!!

As we mentioned before attendance at basketball games is an ever-changing format. After 2 home games we looked at the number of fans in attendance and the number of the 6 people for each athlete that are actually showing up. At this time, we are going to lower the number to 4 household members from 6 but we are going to allow all fans to attend all games to hopefully get a better crowd for both the boys and girls. The maximum we can have at this time is 250 and that counts the athletes participating. We understand that some of you will use up to six and if that is the case please email Mr. Brown at gbrown@vcsbadger.net and we will look at the numbers that the opposing school will be bringing and how many are on our list and we will accommodate on a case-by-case basis by who put in for extra people first. We ask that you do this the day prior so we have time to get an actual head count of what we are expecting. Also remember that wearing a mask correctly is not an option as it is mandated from the Governor’s Office for us to have these events for our kids. We have a few in our stands that are not abiding by this mandate. We have to remember that we are here for our kids and we get to continue to do this because of this mandate. Schools are actually stopping games and removing people that are not abiding by the mandate. We are Badgers and we are better than that. You are also required to social distance 6 feet from other households. Social distancing does not exclude you from wearing a mask. Please do your part and keep your mask on correctly and remind those around you and emphasize why we are getting to have these events for our athletes. We really don’t want to have to stop games and remove fans. Please help us out!! Our next home game is against Ainsworth so please get your list updated with your athlete and give the names to the coaches.

Pictured are some of our Badger Paw winners from the month of October. They were able to choose their prize, and Ella Eggert (2nd grade) chose to enjoy some hot cocoa with her teacher, Mrs. Coleman. Dravin Larvie (4th grade) picked to have root beer floats with a classmate, King Brown. Emma Homan (2nd grade) chose to sit in the principal's chair for a day. Way to go, students! For the month of December, we are focusing on KINDNESS - treat others as you want to be treated!

Attending Valentine Home Basketball Games: Currently we are only allowed to allow household family members into games and we have a 25% capacity restriction which means that we are allowed to have 250 people in attendance. Each player will be given a list today of who is on their current list of attendees. We are allowing 6 people for each player. They are being asked to give to their parent/guardian so they know who is on the list. If you need to make changes to the list please email Mr. Brown at gbrown@vcsbadger.net 24 hours prior to the event. It was decided at the parent's meeting last night that we are only going to allow girl's parents at the girl's games and boy's parents at the boy's games in Valentine. The way this will work is that we will open the doors 30 minutes prior to game time of the girl's game. Only girls fans on the list will be allowed in to watch the girl's games. As boy's fans arrive they will be asked to gather in the commons or auditorium whichever is available on that particular night. Once the girl's game is over girl's fans are required to leave through the gym doors on the southwest corner of the gym, please do not walk across the gym floor at this time. We will sanitize the bleachers quick and then allow the boy's fans to enter the gym for the boy's games. Valentine fans will sit on the east side of the gym and are required to wear mask over mouth and nose and social distance themselves from other households. Away game guidelines will be published as we receive them. We are going to try to update every Friday on social media for the following weeks games. Things are ever-changing so please stay tuned! We will update as quickly as we can when things change. GO BADGERS!!

Students and Parents: Valentine High School is requiring any student who owes work to come in Friday, December 18 during teacher in-service. School will start at 8:00am and they will go to their first period class to work on assignments that aren't finished. They will be dismissed once they have satisfactorily completed their homework or until 11:30am. Lunch will not be provided on this day. Any students who still owe work after Friday, December 18 will then be required to come to school on December 21 and December 22 (8:00 am to 11:55) to complete the work. There is a list of student who owe work hanging in the office window so please communicate with your students to be sure you are aware of what they owe.
