Please find the parking spot application/letter link posted below. New this year is a Google Form for spot selection. I will be sending this out on 8/4. Hopefully, it will work out for us. Please make sure the class of 2026 checks their email!!
Reminder--This is NOT mandatory. This is a Student Council fundraiser for homecoming and scholarships. It is $30 for a spot, and all extra paint/supplies are at your own cost. SHARE! Designs don't have to be extravagant; keep them simple, yet YOU! No bigger than a 4x6 or 4x5 rectangle (the size of the current painted spots). Any questions, please email Mrs. Arganbright.
See you at school soon. Enjoy your last week of summer!

You MAY be receiving a phone call, email or text from a company called LIFE TRACK. This is NOT SPAM.
Life Track is a company that follows up with our former students with short survey's that give us feedback on their post secondary preparedness, college going and graduation rate, and job readiness.
This is vital information for Valentine High School so we can make adjustments in our curriculum, course offerings and programs.
The longevity data is extremely useful for us to measure our effectiveness.
We encourage anyone who receives contact from Life Track to participate in the short survey.
THANK YOU!!!

An introductory message from Coach McSweeney:
I am Ashley McSweeney. I grew up in Valentine and graduated from Valentine Rural High School in 2008. After High School, I attended Chadron State College where I received my teaching certificate and played golf for the Eagles. I lived out of state for a few years and came back to Valentine in 2017. Currently, I am the Early Childhood Special Education teacher for our district and I coach Middle School golf. I am excited to take on the role of High School girls golf coach with Shawna Houdek. Go Badgers! Devin Muirhead will be hard to replace, but it is neat that Shawn and I get to take over for the guy who coached us through our High School days!
When I am not involved in school activities, I enjoy spending time with my family (my husband, two kids and two dogs) doing the things we love. We enjoy spending time at the lake fishing/camping, hunting, playing board games and playing and watching sports! Golf is one of our favorites and is something that my family has done together since we were all able to walk!

An introductory message from Coach Houdek:
I am Shawna Houdek. I graduated from Valentine High School in 2013. Attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln where I earned my Agriculture Education degree. I moved back to Valentine in 2020 after accepting the second ag teacher position at the high school. I accepted the assistant girls golf coaching position to begin the fall of 2021 and have enjoyed working with the program and having the opportunity to coach with Devin Muirhead after having had him as my coach while I was in high school. I am looking forward to next season as Ashley McSweeney joins the girls golf program as co-head coach with me! Go Badgers!

An introductory message from Coach Coleman:
My name is Brooks Coleman, and I’m proud to introduce myself as the new head golf coach at Valentine High School. I’m a 2015 graduate of VHS, and I’ve had a passion for the game of golf ever since I was a kid learning and playing out at Deer Park Golf Course.
I graduated from Valentine in 2015 as a three-time state qualifier, finishing 14th at the state tournament my senior year. After high school, I continued my golf career at Northeast Community College before finishing my education at UNK. I began coaching in Hyannis, where our team made its first-ever appearance at the state tournament and had the school’s first state medalist.
For the past four years, I’ve had the chance to return home and serve as an assistant under Devin Muirhead—the coach who guided me during my own time as a Bader golfer. To now take over the program he built is a humbling and meaningful opportunity. It truly feels like a full-circle moment.
Golf has given me so much throughout my life—not just in competition, but in discipline, relationships, and personal growth. I’m excited to help shape those same experiences for our student-athletes and build on the proud tradition of Valentine golf.
