The NSAA has come out with new attendance guidelines. We like most schools are currently working on a plan to figure out the best way to handle the increased capacity. We have been in contact with all the schools that we compete against this week and will pass on information as we receive it. As of now this is what we have:
2/7 - JV Wrestling @ Gothenburg 4:30. 2 Fans per wrestler and you must be on the list that the coaches will submit. The event will be live-streamed @ https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCpSg9QMoJtUkc-az4UkPcFA/featured
The girl's wrestling invite in Winnebago has been postponed until Wednesday due to a possible storm moving into that area. Wrestling will start at 10 am and the live stream link is:

VMS had their December Quiz Bowl with Badger Pause classes today. Mrs. Cronin's team won against Mr. Pettigrew's team in the final round with a tough competition of 8-7 as the final score. A great day was had by all with a great end to Christmas break!

What an act of kindness the employees of VCS were shown recently by generous people of this wonderful community. A mug filled with goodies was presented to all employees. Jan Smith, Tammy Lutter, and Scott McClellen visited all buildings to thank us for what we’ve done during this pandemic. Thank you to the community of Valentine for your support!

It was brought to our attention this morning that the tickets for the West Holt game have the wrong date and time printed on them. JV games start at 3:30 today. We apologize for not catching this.
A couple changes.
Chadron Holiday Tournament just changed fan numbers from4 to 6. If you want to add to your list please have your athlete contact their coach. We are sending the list first thing tomorrow morning.

Congrats to Isabelle Salters who signed her letter of intent to run track for the Concordia Bulldogs! Way to go Izzy!!

Wrestling - We were unable to fill the 8th spot on Saturday for our Invite so with that we can now operate out of the High School gym only since we are under 8 teams and the 112 participant guideline. There will be no wrestling at the Middle School on Saturday.
Wrestling parents and fans:
We still need a few table workers for Friday and Saturday. It's your only chance to watch wrestling live. Your name has to be on the worker pass list to get into the gym either day. We will not be adding anyone to the list tomorrow after 11:00 a.m. If you would like to sign up to help please email Mr. Brown at gbrown@vcsbadger.net or call the school. Go Badgers!!!!
JV Boys basketball will only be 3 quarters on Monday at West Holt due to low numbers.
Reminder to Basketball Parents- Your athlete needs to let their coaches know tomorrow how many tickets you are requesting for the games in Atkinson on Tuesday. We were given 150 tickets total and will distribute them as equally as we can to household members and grandparents that want to attend. These will be distributed on Thursday at practice.
Attendance for Ainsworth Basketball tomorrow. We are unable to open it up to the public due to NSAA's protocol. We are going to increase it out to 6 household members including grandparents. People on the list can stay for both the girls and boys games. Parents please check with your athlete and see who they put on the list. If you need to add please call the school and have your people added.
Wrestling Invite - We are not allowing fans due to NSAA protocol. We had 14 parents sign up tonight to help and we need more help. If you would like to help at the Invite please email Mr. Brown at gbrown@vcsbadger.net or call the school. We will have an attendance list compiled by Thursday evening. Please understand that we have to operate 2 gyms so there is a chance you might not get to watch Valentine.
We will be staying in the "orange" phase for activities through the Holiday Break. The NSAA released the following statement:
To continue to support our NSAA member schools and their efforts to keep kids in school and participating in NSAA activities, the NSAA has decided to stay with the Governor’s “Orange Phase” of the Directed Health Measure regarding fan attendance and 6-foot separation between households. Additionally, schools may allow grandparents to attend contests. Spectators, coaches, and non-active participants are required to wear face coverings at all times while attending these events.
Non-compliance with the above may include but not be limited to reprimands, fines or exclusion from the post season.
This decision is based on an abundance of caution as we move through the holiday season. By doing these things now, we are hopeful we can host NSAA winter championships in February and March.
This is in effect until January 4, 2021.
