Valentine Community Schools

On Thursday, November 17, 2022, VHS sophomores participated in the second annual “An Intro To Life”.  122 students from Cody-Kilgore, Ainsworth, Bassett, Thedford, Springview, and Valentine gathered at the Cherry County Fairgrounds for the real-life budget simulation.  Over 60 volunteers from these communities ran budget booths and life stations that helped the students experience what their financial future may look like.  Learners were able to interview with an army colonel, sew buttons, calculate the cost of buying a car, find out what to expect from dorm life, count change, etc. at life stations.  A huge thank you to all the school administrators and everyone who donated money and resources to enable this event to happen: Sandhills State Bank-Bassett (lunch), Pinnacle Bank, West Plains Bank, Security First Bank, Rock County Community Fund, and Marge Morgan.  Wells Fargo provided the Hands on Banking curriculum.  ESU #17 provided staff and coordinated planning time and resources.  Local business teachers and VHS business communication students did the planning for this event.  Thanks to everyone for making this learning experience happen…we are already looking forward to next year.  Click here to view pics of the day!
