Caleb and Cate- BADGERS OF THE WEEK

Caleb Long, Senior,  is an example of “We>Me”.  Caleb is a dependable, quiet, and selfless leader who has run cross country for six years.  In August, Caleb volunteered to be a guide runner for my Middle School runner, Cate Salters.  He would run his 5K’s competitively, then meet Cate at the start of her Middle School races. Cate has limited vision which by rule requires a guide runner for practice and at meets. Caleb acted as Cate’s eyes as she ran her race. He would point out trees, holes, obstacles, and route lines along the course and encourage Cate to do her best.  On Thursday, October 4, Caleb will run his last Southwest Conference Cross Country 5k in Broken Bow. When he finishes, he will meet Cate at the start of her race - one final time. Caleb’s dedication, leadership, and compassion for others make him a positive role model for our Cross Country teams.
