PROM April 17, 2021 – “The Lost Prom”

Rules & Regulations – Valentine High School

BANQUET

  • The Banquet is for Juniors, Seniors, Prom Servers, outside dates of Juniors/Seniors (there is a $12 fee for outside dates that must be paid by required due date) and school invited guests only.  Doors will open at 5:45 PM and will close at 6:00 PM.  The Banquet will be held at the Peppermill.

  • Dress for the Banquet is formal.  Gentlemen will wear a sports coat, leisure suit, coat and tie, or the equivalent.  Ladies will wear gowns, dresses, or the equivalent.  Anything questionable in regards to dress for the Banquet will be at the sole discretion of the Administration & Class Sponsors.  Blue jeans, baseball caps, etc. are not formal dress and are examples of attire that are not allowed at the Banquet or Dance.

  • No one who has been drinking or appears to be under the influence of drugs will be allowed at the Banquet, and they will be turned over to law enforcement if possible.  There will be a breathalyzer present and it will be used if deemed necessary by either the Administration, Class Sponsors, or Law Enforcement.  Any refusal by anyone to submit to a breath test will result in immediate dismissal from all Prom activities sponsored by the school, and if deemed necessary by the Administration, Class Sponsors, or Law Enforcement, they may be detained by Law Enforcement officials that are either present at the activity or who are summoned by school personnel.

  • All general rules of etiquette will be followed.  This includes appropriate table manners.  Administration, Class Sponsors, and Law Enforcement are in authority to reserve the right to refuse entrance and to dismiss anyone that does not observe the rules of etiquette.

DANCE

  • The Dance will start at approximately 9:00 PM and will end at Midnight.

  • Doors will open around 6:45 PM to 7:00 PM for pictures and close at 7:30 PM to all students and dates.

  • The Dance is for Juniors, Seniors, Prom Servers, and dates.  All dates attending the Dance who do not currently attend Valentine High School, and underclassmen that are dates of Juniors, Seniors, or Prom Servers must be registered in advance with the designated Junior Class Sponsor, and they must be registered by the designated time – all dates must be of high school age or older.  All Juniors, Seniors, Prom Servers, their dates, and their parent(s)/guardian(s) will be required to sign a consent form and return it by the designated time to a Junior Class Sponsor in order to gain admittance to the Dance.

  • Doors to the Dance will be open for one hour after the completion of the Banquet – this typically is until around 7:45 PM.  No one will be admitted after this time without approval of the Administration.  The Dance is a one-way door at all times.  You may leave at any time, but you will not be allowed back in. When students leave the dance, they must sign a checkout sheet.

  • School personnel may videotape the Promenade and Dance. 

  • Crowning of the Royalty will start between 7:30 PM and 8:00 PM in the gym.  The public is invited to attend.

  • Spectators will enter the school through the south gym doors and will stay off the gym floor until the conclusion of the Promenade.  Students and their dates will enter the building through the southwest school doors.

  • Administration, Class Sponsors, and Law Enforcement are in authority to reserve the right to refuse entrance and to dismiss anyone who does not observe the rules of etiquette.
