VMS Science Classes Test Minnechaduza Creek

VMS 7th grade science classes did water quality testing on the Minnechaduza Creek at the Mill pond this morning.  Students discussed the differences they observed between the Mill pond and the Niobrara River from last month. Having practiced in the classroom a couple of times, the students were in charge of the testing procedures with just a little input from their teacher Mrs. Perrett. The 3 classes measured various parameters including, air temperature, water temperature, pH, alkalinity, turbidity using a secchi disk tube, nitrogen, and phosphate levels.

While there, some classes got to see a group of geese- learning that the proper name for them is Canada geese (not Canadian).
