Alternate Learning Environment Grading and Reporting

VALENTINE HIGH SCHOOL GRADING

  1. The homework counts and we have consequences in place for not doing the homework that may consist of the following:

    1. A lower grade

    2. A failing grade

    3. Retaking the semester

    4. Retaking the course via alternative education (Edgenuity)

Unfinished work will result in lower grades, which can lead to failing grades. Students who fail classes will need to retake that semester or retake the class via alternative education. This also applies to dual credit courses.

  1. If you are behind on work you and your parents/guardians will be contacted by your classroom teacher. If work still isn’t being turned in then the building administrator will contact your parents/guardians and discuss the specific consequence for that student.

  2. At the end of the year any student who is failing will have to make up that class the following year which may make it harder to graduate on time.

  3. There will be no semester final exams for the current semester.

  4. Report cards will be going out with accumulated semester grades.

  5. May 4th will be the last day new instruction will be released to students. These assignments will be due on Friday, May 8. Any student that has completed all the required work at that point will  be finished and the final grade will be calculated. Students who have not completed the required work will still be made to finish with the deadline being May 20, 2020. At that point any student who hasn’t finished their required work will be issued zeros and grades calculated.

  6. Any student after May 20, 2020 that has a failing grade will make up the semester credits the following school year.

VALENTINE MIDDLE & RURAL SCHOOL GRADING

Valentine middle and rural school teachers assigned “Enrichment Activities” from March 16 - March 27, 2020. These activities were checked for completeness and not given an assigned point value.

Starting on March 30, 2020, student assignments will be given a point value and graded accordingly through May 8, 2020.

May 4, 2020, will be the last day new instruction will be assigned to students. These assignments will be due on Friday, May 8, 2020. Any student that has completed all the required work at that point will  be finished and the final grade will be calculated. Students who have not completed the required work will still be required to finish with the deadline being May 20, 2020. At that point any student who hasn’t finished their required work will be issued zeros and grades calculated.

A fourth quarter report card will be sent to parents/guardians at the end of May.

VALENTINE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL GRADING

Valentine Elementary students' daily work is being evaluated by classroom teachers, and feedback will be given when needed. The last day of new instruction will be Friday, May 8th. From May 11th-May 20th, teachers will focus on students who have not completed work or shown understanding of work. Fourth quarter report cards will be sent out and will indicate if a standard was met, improved upon, or not tested at this time.
