Valentine Community Schools

Thank you to everyone who attended the board meeting on Wednesday evening and offered their comments about the tentative plan of moving 5^th grade to the middle school beginning with the 2020-2021 school year.  Movement of the 5^th grade to the middle school grew out of the district’s desire to create a space within the Valentine school buildings for two Pre-K classrooms in close proximity of one another to allow for expanding the Pre-K offerings.  After lots of discussion with administration, the board, and staff, moving the 5^th grade to the middle school is believed to be the most appropriate fit for the long term.  Other spaces that were considered for the PreK expansion included space at the middle school and the high school. School personnel is working hard to further define how this move, along with the expansion of the Pre-K offerings could look and be implemented, always with careful consideration given to providing quality programs and education for students of all ages.  Please contact Dr. Isom, Mr. Sayer, or Mrs. Wonnenberg with any thoughts or questions about the Pre-K expansion plans or moving 5^th grade to the middle school building.
