Girls Basketball

Basketball season has begun and Mr. Cronin says that it's been a very challenging yet, rewarding year. They've had a lot of injuries with both varsity and JV. However, he says that this has helped other players step up and take on roles the team needs to take. Mr. Cronin's favorite memory coaching was watching the team come together while taking on Ainsworth to come back and win in overtime this year. He looks forward to seeing how the juniors and seniors take on the role of leaders and see what kind of resiliency and grit the team has in dealing with adversity. I asked Mr. Cronin how he motivates the team and he replied, "They just make fun of me." He was inspired to start coaching because he really loved his high school career in sports and activities. It was some of his greatest memories. He had a basketball coach who was very instrumental in his interest in coaching, but because he impacted him way beyond high school and sports. He was a huge mentor in his life. What he likes most about basketball is that it is the most team-oriented skilled sport in high school. There are so many facets that each player needs to be able to do. You can't just decide to go out for basketball and expect to be good at it. It takes a long time and dedication to become a good player and to create a good team and program. And lastly, the best advice that he can give to the team is to, "Get in the gym." Good luck to everyone in basketball!
