Did you know, a sports drink may contain over 7 teaspoons of sugar, a can of soda may have 10 teaspoons, and a large energy drink may have up to 20 teaspoons? These drinks have poor nutritional value and are unnecessary for regular consumption. High levels of added sugar in your diet is one of the main contributing factors to dental decay, diabetes and obesity in America. Next time you are thirsty...stop and rethink you drink...limit these types of liquids and reach instead for low calorie or pure water beverages. Stay healthy and you will stay in the game of life!
Each year, more than 500,000 American youth, age 12-17, try smokeless tobacco for the first time. Chewing tobacco has higher levels of nicotine than cigarettes, and is even more addictive. Tobacco companies often promote smokeless as a safe alternative to smoking. It is not! In addition to damaging your teeth and gums, smokeless tobacco contains at least 28 cancer-causing agents, and there is a direct correlation to oral and pharyngeal cancer which kills over 8,000 people each year. That is roughly one person per hour! Be smart...don't start, and if you are a user, get help to kick the habit and quit now. Don't let tobacco bench you!
