Valentine vs Winner: Valentine lost to Winner 0-3. Scores: 21-25, 16-25, 26-28
Offensively, Skylar Mathis led our hitters with 11 kills, Michaela Petersen had 6 kills. Amanda O'Kief led setting assists with 13 and Marki Coleman had 7, Marki also had 3 serving aces.
Defensively, Allie Millard led the team in digs with 16, followed by Michaela Petersen and McKenzie Kelber each with 14 digs.
Valentine vs Ainsworth: Lost to Ainsworth 2-3. Scores 25-6, 25-14, 23-25, 25-27, 10-15
Offensively, Michaela Petersen led our hitters with 6 kills, followed by Skylar Mathis with 5 kills Amanda O'Kief led setting assists with 8 and Marki Coleman had 5. Marki Coleman had 5 serving aces and McKenzie Kelber had 4 aces.
Defensively, Chelsea Owen led the team in digs with 7, followed by McKenzie Kelber and Allie Millard each with 4 digs.
Coach's Comments
We learned a lot about ourselves in this triangular. I am asking the girls to do some new things on the offensive side of the game this season and they tried everything I asked them to do. I was proud of
what they were able to accomplish offensively and am excited to see what they will be able to do as they grow more confident with their hitting patterns. We struggled a bit in serving and serve receive. These are skills that always need improvement. We started out against Winner a little timid. We played them well in the 3rd set and carried that energy into our first sets with Ainsworth. I think we just ran out of gas in our final sets and we were not able to put them away.
This is a great group of young ladies. I am confident that they will continue to work hard and learn from every game. I expect that they will accomplish anything they put their minds to.
